The term environment refers to the things around the organism, which have a direct influence on the activities of the organism. The organisms depend upon their environment and for their sustenance, while the environment provides them base or medium for various activities of their life. The relationship in organisms and the environment is, therefore, is of reciprocal nature. Environment includes physical or non-living or abiotic environment and the biotic or living environment.

Environment is very necessary for human surviving in the earth. Soil, water, air, sunlight etc. are the part of our living. Without these things we cannot live in the earth. So that we have to protect our natural surroundings from pollution, destroy, and make it beautiful to make our life beautiful. World environment day is both a global celebration and a platform for public outreach.

World Environment Day if observed on June 5 every year. The concept was created on the first day of the first-ever U.N. conference which focused on humans and how they interact with the environment. In 1968 Sweden first suggested having such a conference to the U.N. And in 1969, the U.N. agreed that after 3 years they would have a conference in Sweden that focused on environmental issues.

Finally, in 1972, the World leaders from around the world sat together to discuss how they can raise awareness to protect our environment. After 4 years with this concept the World Environment Day was made. Then 2 years later, the First World Environment was celebrated with the slogan “Only One Earth”. It is the campaign slogan, with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.
